Drenched Expeditions is a global sailing collective for ocean lovers, adventurers, and storytellers. We're not a tour operator or a charter company. We're a community of divers, filmmakers, and explorers living off-grid and on the sea—chasing wild encounters, building stories, and immersing ourselves in the raw beauty of the underwater world.

Meet the Team
Nate Porter (Captain Nemo)
Founder, Captain and Creative Director – Drenched Expeditions

Nate Porter is an underwater filmmaker, ocean explorer, PADI AmbassaDiver, and the salty heart behind Drenched Expeditions. His sailing journey began in 2019 with the purchase of Sylfia, the first expedition sailboat in what would become a growing global armada. Today, Drenched vessels are scattered across the world, each helmed by trusted captains and crew who share Nate’s passion for life at sea.

Over the years, hundreds of crew members have called these boats home—some for a few weeks, others for years. But for Nate, the magic never fades. He still lights up watching someone spot their first dolphin riding the bow or feeling the sails fill as they’re carried toward the unknown. That spark, that freedom, that deep connection to the ocean—that’s what Drenched is all about.

Mie
First Mate

Curious, calm, and ocean-obsessed, Mie is the kind of First Mate you want by your side when the wind picks up or the anchor drags at 2 a.m. Originally from Denmark, she’s sailed her own boat in the chilly northern seas and crewed as First Mate on a catamaran journey from the Bahamas to Panama, hopping through the Caribbean and chasing sunsets along the way.
She’s a PADI Instructor and a psychologist — though these days, she’s more into fixing lines than minds. Mie thrives on adventure, feels most at home on the water, and cares deeply for the ocean and everything living in it. If she’s not trimming sails or spotting reef sharks, you’ll probably find her smiling into the wind, exactly where she’s meant to be.
Bastiaan
Capitain of Sylfia
​Bastiaan took to the sea at age 11 with the Danish sea scouts and has been chasing wind ever since. He’s raced tall ships, has been onboard Traineeship Denmark, and crossed the Atlantic under sail. He’s owned two boats and captained a catamaran on a voyage from the Bahamas to Panama — a journey full of blue water, wild anchorages, and lessons learned.
Now serving as Captain of Sylfia, Bastiaan brings a steady hand, a deep love for seamanship, and a commitment to safety that anchors the whole crew. He’s also a dive instructor and a hands-on problem solver who keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes. He holds strong respect for the ocean and the lifestyle that comes with it — honest, simple, and full of freedom.
