What To Expect
This isn’t your average sailing trip.
This is your chance to live on a badass expedition vessel, dive some of the planet’s most incredible underwater worlds, and become part of a floating crew of explorers, filmmakers, and ocean lovers.
Here’s what you can look forward to when you come aboard:
Life on Board
As part of our crew, you’ll be joining a family. This is not a charter; it’s a working, living sailing boat where every member participates fully. You’ll have the chance to learn and share skills, take on chores, cooking duties, and sailing shifts (even at night). Life aboard is both physically and mentally challenging, but the rewards are immense. It truly is the adventure of a lifetime. We operate on a cost-sharing basis, with a contribution of USD 2,700 per month (or USD 90 per day) per crew member. Some voyages are shorter or longer, lasting 3-6 weeks, but the daily rate remains the same. For crew staying 3-6 months, we may offset the cost slightly through a work-trade arrangement for essential skills. If you decide to join us, securing your place requires a deposit of half your first trip fee.

What Your Contribution Covers
• Three vegetarian/vegan meals daily
•Scuba diving, wakeboarding, kayaks, and other adventure gear
• Bedding and board
• Maintenance costs, diesel for the ship and generator (to pump dive tanks and service filters), and petrol for the dinghies
• Mooring and marina fees
Insurance
We strongly encourage you to obtain travel insurance that includes coverage for scuba diving activities, as well as DAN (Divers Alert Network) diving insurance if possible. Please note that Expedition Drenched and its captains are not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property, whether it’s a phone dropped in the ocean, a drone crash, or a laptop left out in the rain. Travel insurance will provide valuable protection for your medical needs, personal equipment, and any diving-related incidents.

Diving and Certifications
We typically have a free-diving/scuba instructor on board, so if you’re interested in certification or skill upgrades, let us know in advance. We offer rates lower than commercial dive shops (though not quite as low as in Thailand!). You’re welcome to bring personal gear (mask, fins, wetsuit), but we have plenty of gear on board too.
Internet Access
Starlink Yes we have it, we do our best to have limiting times for it because it uses a lot of power and honestly it messes up our vibe. Pick up a book, play a board game. Learn a new skill.
Costs Not Covered
• Visas
• Additional dive courses
• Alcohol, Personal snacks
• Marine Park/National Park Personal Fees
• Travel/Transfers to and from the vessels
• Insurance, Travel Insurance, Diving Insurance

Safety
Your safety is our top priority. While we’re here for adventure and fun, safety always comes first. Our vessels are equipped with all necessary safety equipment, and before any major voyage or ocean crossing, you’ll receive a comprehensive safety briefing. If the captain or dive instructors determine that a particular dive or activity is unsafe for anyone, we expect all crew members to respect their decision.
Guidelines and Expectations
• Power & Water Conservation: We mostly use solar power and have a water maker, but conservation is key. • Vegetarian Boat: We don’t consume fish; we prefer taking photos of them.
• Shared Spaces & Privacy: Embrace our open, relaxed approach to shared spaces. We typically shower outside and nudity is a part of life. People are respectful of your privacy but please don’t be offended if you see people sun bathing on the roof or showering in the nude.
• Respectful Relationships: We encourage open, respectful communication about personal relationships.
• Guests & Alcohol: Respect guests and practice moderation with alcohol. Please check with the captain before any guests come on board and under no circumstances are they allowed to spend the night.
• Substances: Green or fungi substances are allowed in regions where they’re legal or tolerated. Synthetic drugs are strictly prohibited.
• Smoking: No tobacco use is permitted on board. Vaping outside is acceptable.
• Content Creation: Feel free to create personal content, though restrictions apply on using Expedition Drenched footage commercially.
• Flexibility: Weather and circumstances may impact our plans, so flexibility is essential.
